First Tech ChallengeMiddle School EnrichmentFIRST Tech Challenge - Middle School Robotics Team - where students learn to think like engineers. In this exciting program, teams design, build, and code robots to compete in alliance-style matches against other teams. Robots are built using a reusable platform powered by Android technology and can be coded with different levels of Java-based programming to fit students' experience and interests. Depending on team progress and interest, the group may have the chance to compete in up to two regional competitions with the possibility of advancing to the state championship. Competition dates will be announced later, and the final meeting date may change based on competition schedules, team progress, and coach availability. To participate, students should be able to focus, work cooperatively, and show initiative in learning new skills. FTC Robotics is a team with clear goals, deadlines, and deliverables, rather than a casual STEM exploration club. Students will be expected to contribute consistently to group projects involving robot design, building, coding, testing, documentation, and competition preparation. No prior experience with coding, 3D printing, electronics, or building is required — those skills will be taught as part of the program. After registration, students will be asked to submit a brief paragraph describing their interest in joining the team. There are no “right” answers; this is simply an opportunity for students to demonstrate interest and readiness to participate in a collaborative team environment. Teams will be formed approximately three weeks after the program start date. If the program is full, families are encouraged to place their student on the waitlist. If there is sufficient interest, Community Education will work to add an additional team.Youth Fall 2026
