Observatory Public Viewing

Inspired since childhood by an inexhaustible fascination with the cosmos that has never wavered, Wes is an educator and lifelong learner who began teaching at the Eisenhower Observatory in 2018. His undergraduate background spans political science and international relations, but his real education has come through relentless curiosity about how systems work: from physics and logic to the deep structure of space and time itself. Wes is driven by the challenge of taking complex ideas and translating them into accurate, clear explanations that unlock understanding for anyone.

Ron Schmit is the Coordinator for the Eisenhower Observatory volunteers. In addition to his work at the Eisenhower Observatory, Schmit is an astronomy educator at the Science Museum of Minnesota, the Minneapolis Planetarium; a member of the Minnesota Astronomical Society; and has been named a Solar System Ambassador with JPL/NASA.
